I was really into b-ball (it’s bb, what my friends and I always use or basketball).
After Slamdunk by Takehikou Inoue had finished, I thought that there will be another Slamdunk 2 or something that will continue it.
Rukawa had already become one of Japan player.
Miyagi is replacing Akagi for the captain since Akagi is furthering his study in university.
Mitsui is still in the Shohoku while Akagi and Kogure is going for the university entrance.
While Sakuragi is still under rehabilitation due to the accident during the match with Sannoh (number 1 in high school bb) while he was trying to save the ball during the inter-high.
Shohoku had win the game during that match.
It was a rank C (Shohoku) vs A (Sannoh) that time.
Anyway, I really like the story very much. It’s full with youth spirit and also not to give up in what ever condition or situation it is.
Sakuragi with his quote “99% tensai, 1% effort” claiming that he is a genius in bb and also his spirit of not to lose and give up is what touching me. Around with his funny and stupid jokes as well. Haha
What is REAL?
REAL is another manga by Takehikou Inoue. Yes, it’s still about bb but in a different way.
The story revolves around three teenagers: Nomiya Tomomi, a high school dropout, Togawa Kiyoharu, an ex-sprinter who now plays wheelchair basketball due to osteosarcoma on his right legs and Takahashi Hisanobu, a popular leader of the high school's basketball team who now finds himself a paraplegic after an accident with a lorry.
The three of them find themselves being marginalized by society, but are all united by one common feature: a desire to play basketball, with no place to play it in. Nomiya, being a high school dropout, has no future in his life. Togawa, being a difficult personality, finds himself constantly feuding with his own teammates. Takahashi, once a popular team leader, now finds himself being unable to move his lower limb and trying to accept it.
Besides, Real also deals with the reality of physical disabilities, and the psychological inferiority that the characters struggle against. The story also tells how the characters break through their own psychological barriers bit by bit. Surely with full of energy and spirits. Haha.
I didn't finished it yet but just read the summary a bit. Huhu.
